‘E-mail marketing yields, on average, $ 43.62 for every dollar spent’ -DMA
You bought an email marketing list hoping that you would get good results by rolling an email campaign. To your surprise, after performing the campaign, you see most of your emails bouncing. You don’t see the results you aspired. Whom do you blame?
The email list vendor? The email marketing list? Or yourself?
There are various reasons for unsuccessful email campaigns:
Content of your email message
• Avoid usage of spam words in your message
• Words like 'Free', 'Amazing', 'Click here' etc are tagged as spam
• Avoid too many colors and images
• Avoid symbols and capital letters
• Use relevant subject lines
Sending Emails
• Don't send mails to all the recipients at one-go
• Divide the list and send mails in short sprouts
• Personalize your messages
• Segment the lists and send relevant messages
Use white listed IPs
• Make sure that your server IPs are whitelisted
• Avoid using any spam blocked or blacklisted servers
• Keep checking your IPs to ensure that they aren't blacklisted
Format of your Pitches
• HTML pitches often tend to be too heavy and will not load instantly
• Use more of text format in your messages
• Reduce the size of the image files
• Offer an option to view the message in text or HTML
Use Campaign domains
• Make sure that you are using a separate domain to run your campaigns
• Using the primary domain for campaigns is not recommendable
Send mails at the most appropriate time
• Check the timezone of your prospects before sending emails
• Make sure that they reach the clients at recommended times
• Check industry standards before sending out the emails
Send the mails on ideal days
• Sending mails to official ids over the weekend won't bring in results
• Make sure that you use the best days to send out mails
• Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are considered ideal
• Check industry standards before rolling out campaigns
Make sure that the mails reach the correct targets
• Personalize all your marketing messages
• Make sure that you address the right person with the right job title
• Send industry specific messages
Send welcome messages
• Make sure that you send out welcome mails before sending marketing messages
• Give an easy option to Unsubscribe in the welcome message
Procuring an opt-in list is just a start. Make sure that you follow the email marketing ethics to guarantee high ROI from your campaigns.
Persistence, dedication and tenacity helps get whopping email marketing results!
